1. Scope of the Valuation Service

We are pleased to offer you a free, non-binding, no-obligation market value estimate and provenance assessment for YOUR jewellery items submitted to us. This service is:

  • Free of charge

  • Non-binding — no contractual obligation arises from requesting or receiving this estimate

  • For informational purposes only and does not substitute a formal valuation report by a certified appraiser.

 

2. What You Can Expect From Our Review

When you submit a request for valuation, you will receive insights on:

  • What your item likely is (such as type of jewellery, classification, region)

  • What it is not 😉

  • Likely materials and composition, based on visible media and markings (non-certified indication)

  • Possible provenance or historical context based on jewellery history expertise and gemmological knowledge

  • Potential ADDITIONAL artistic or cultural value where relevant

Important: These comments are estimates and opinions only and do not constitute a certified appraisal or a guarantee of value.

2a. Certified Appraisal and Taxation Reports

  • For estimates that might be used for official purposes (insurance, inheritance, legal claims), Dutch practice and consumer guidance strongly recommend valuations by independent, certified register taxateurs who are members of recognized professional bodies such as the Federatie TMV. (Federatie TMV)

  • Shall you decide to formalise the report we are happy to provide an official documentation from our certified register-taxateur partner Anita Veenendal Taxaties

3. Legal & Consumer Rights Disclaimer

To comply with Dutch and EU consumer protection standards:

  • Our FREE valuation is informal and indicative only and does not replace official appraisal documents required for insurance, inheritance tax purposes, or legal use.

  • You acknowledge that market value estimates are subject to fluctuation and can differ from formal certified valuation reports, actual sale prices, or insurance replacement values.

  • Our assessment may take into account visual media (photos, descriptions) and publicly visible markings but will not include laboratory confirmation of materials or gemstones.

  • Where we discuss potential materials (e.g., precious metals, gemstones), this is a non-certified indication only, based on visible markings and general expertise — not a legally binding assay or gemmological certificate.

5. Your Consumer Rights Under Dutch & EU Law

As a consumer in the Netherlands and the EU:

  • You are protected by EU consumer laws implemented in the Dutch Civil Code for online services, including rights to truthful information and fair marketing. (business.gov.nl)

  • Our valuation service falls outside the definition of a kerndienst that triggers a statutory 14-day cancellation period (used for sales of goods), but you may still contact us at any time to withdraw consent for use of your data.

  • We inform you clearly prior to submission about the non-binding nature of what you are requesting.

6. Taxation & Fiscal Considerations

This valuation service does not constitute tax advice:

  • Any estimate provided should not be relied upon for Dutch tax filings, inheritance tax returns, insurance valuations, or financial reporting unless confirmed by a qualified professional.

  • Formal documentation and certified appraisal reports required by Dutch tax authorities should be obtained from a certified appraiser or accountant of your choice or via our partner stated in clause 2a above.
