Antique Late 1800s Lava Stone Black Moor Blackamoor Gold Ring
An exception black moor (blackamoor) ring for collectors! Converted from an antique colonial necklace clasp, this ring centerpiece is set with a perfectly preserved lava stone cameo.
The cameo depicts a young lady or a young man wearing a turban and a necklace. The cameo has a mesmerizing detailing with a perfectly carved face of the blackamoor as well as details of his or her costume.
The ring is in a beautiful antique state with no wear or damage. Its rather heavy - 7.5 g with the large crown measuring 2.5 x 2 cm!
Lava stone jewelry was very popular in the 18th and 19th century and was often brought back from the travels to Italy and Asian countries.
