An extremely rare and highly collectable Georgian era chain necklace with an original snake-shaped barrel lock.
Made of pinchbeck this unusual chain is decorated with fancy alternating links which have a tooled surface. It is very rare for Georgian era chains to have their original locks. They were widely removed and sold separately because of their artistic value and ornamentations. Often these clasps were made in shape of clasped hands, snakes or various padlocks. This particular chain has an original clasp in a shape of coiled snake.
Definitely an eye-catcher this chain won`t go unnoticed! Will look great when worn alone or when layered with your other necklaces! There is a zero chance someone else will wear an identical one.
A lucky find - this necklace will make any antique jewelry lover happy!
Links thickness: 6.5 mm;
Weight: 13.2 g;
